We rented a van from Road Surfers near Venice and drove north to the Dolomites. Since we weren’t well-prepared for more challenging hikes and higher peaks, we stayed close to the roads, explored the valleys, and used various lifts, which are plentiful in the area. There was so much to see, and we focused on the natural beauty, exploring every day from morning until evening.
We slept in the van at different locations each night. The Park4Night app was incredibly helpful in finding free and suitable spots for overnight stays.
I compiled a list of all the places we visited over those six days (20+) and created a “Google My Maps” to share my favourites with you. The map features everything from tourist attractions (we did our best to avoid overly touristy spots ;)) to some hidden gems. I’ve also included several places we haven’t visited but feel good about (marked with yellow stars).
The Parking spots we used along the way are also noted—light blue for places we visited and dark blue for overnight stays. All parking spots on the map are free, except for one, which is quite special for the region that is known for expensive parking.
+ I marked two locations for drinking water. While there are plenty of fountains, these particular areas had fewer options (Park4Night app helped here).
